Chapter 23: Deluxe Suite 04
It wasn’t the gentle voice that he usually directed towards me, nor was it his usual flirtatious tone; this voice sounded stern yet dignified.
Huh, who is this guy? Don’t tell me he’s this guy’s boss or something? His tone sounded commanding.
I heard they’re the same age, so I assumed that they were colleagues, friends or acquaintances.
In front of the surprised me, the big man, named Galleon, seemed to wake up slowly as he was being addressed by an intimidating voice.
Lek relentlessly pressed the big man, who wasn’t fully awake yet, “We’ve healed the cause of your pain. I kept my promise to you. You shouldn’t feel pain or sluggishness anymore. Now swear your allegiance to me as you promised.”
“… Hah? What? Ah… It… doesn’t hurt…?”
“That’s right. You promised to be loyal to me if I can get rid of your pain and fatigue. I’ve fulfilled my end of the bargain. Now it’s time for you to fulfil yours.”
The grin on Lek’s face was really… how do I say this, boastful and full of life.
“Ah, you’re right. I don’t feel lethargic at all. My body might be in better shape than before… Why all of a sudden… amazing. It’s a miracle.”
The so-called Galleon looked at Lek in surprise, then he looked around. After that, he got out of bed and moved his body to check his condition.
He was convinced that his illness was gone and kneeled down in front of Lek.
“I understand. I’ll uphold my promise. I pledge my allegiance to you, Lector Rathnan, who has granted me the chance to live on.”
The priest laughed happily at that moment, “Woohooo.” Priest, this is a very serious scene where the big man is making a vow, so let’s not laugh. I thought, but it was the first time I had ever seen something like this, so I was staring at them.
However, Lek replied without paying any attention to us, “I accept. All those in this room bear witness. Now then, can you do what I asked of you?”
“Yeah… I will. This is a promise I made. I’ll take care of it. You can give me some time to do it, right?”
“That’s fine. Use this to get in contact with me.”
Lek passed the man something and finished the conversation with a beautiful and imposing smile.
Galleon-san received that something, then he quickly packed up his things and said, “C’ya,” before rushing out of the room.
What is it? He’s really fast. I’m amazed you’ve healed that much… I’m quite surprised myself.
I don’t understand what happened, but it was a beautiful establishment of a master and servant relationship. Hoho, that’s nice.
I’m glad that I was able to fulfil my promise too.
I’d like to believe that I now have the means to go to the neighbouring kingdom.
Alright, let’s go pack. Oh, and should I think of a way for this clinic to function even after I’m gone?
While I was thinking this, Lek took my hands and said, “Thanks a lot Anise. You’re a wonderful healer. I didn’t think you could heal him so quickly. Your ability is amazing. Of course, I’ll keep my promise to you. But, but before I do, why don’t you come and work for me?”
Then, while holding my hands in his, he brought them to his mouth, and out of all things, kissed them.
Woah, that’s affectionate! And why is the world sparkling?
“I need a ‘saint’ right now. It’s too good of an ability for me to fulfil my promise then say goodbye. I would love for you to come work for me.”
I froze in shock and Father Austin said in surprise, “Oh my, it’s rare to see ‘charm’ of that level not working. You’re really on your guard, Anise. I knew you would be.”
What’s that ‘charm’? Is it magic? Is it that sparkly stuff from before?
This man used that skill against me?!
I glared at the man in front of me.
But this man didn’t seem at all affected by my glare and said, “Oops… too bad. It would have been a lot easier to convince you if I had your promise.”
Hey, don’t wink at me. He’s back to the flirtatious guy he was yesterday.
Where did the serious vibe you had earlier go? Come back, Serious Lek.
“Just what are you doing… To go as far as to use a skill like that, are you doing something shady? I’d have to refuse anything to do with crime. I just need you to fulfil your promise. The sooner the better,” I shook my hands off while saying.
That response is enough for a playboy.
Father Austin looked at me with sparkling eyes, “Ooh… You’re not swayed by this man… I’ve seen something good,” he said.
I think I would normally shake if I were asked to do something by such a handsome person.
If I were just an ordinary woman working here, then I’m sure I would have shouted on the spot, “I’ll follow you wherever you go!”
Yes, if I weren’t being chased.
But I have something I want to fulfil, and I don’t have much time. I can’t waste time by following a stranger. He might bring me to the royal castle, so I definitely can’t say yes.
